❌ Your CV didn’t cost you that interview.
    📧 Your unread email did.

I don’t understand how you can be actively job hunting and not checking your emails regularly.

Here’s the hard truth: not all recruiters or HR professionals will call to nudge you to check your email. For many, once the interview invite is sent, that’s it.

I learned this lesson the hard way. A few years ago, I missed an interview simply because I didn’t check my email on time. I reached out later for another opportunity, and got no response. Since then, anytime I’m actively applying for jobs, checking my email (including spam) has been part of my daily routine.

On the recruiter side, I once sent interview invites to over 12 candidates. On the interview day, only 3 showed up. When I called the others, most said they never saw the email because they didn’t check their inbox.

That experience changed how I recruit. I now make the extra effort to call candidates before and after sending interview invites. But the reality is- not all recruiters will do this.

Dear job seekers, you’re already doing the hard part by applying. Now take it one step further:
    ✔️ Check your email daily
    ✔️ Check your spam folder
    ✔️ Respond promptly

Opportunities don’t always knock twice. Sometimes, they land quietly in your inbox.

Have you ever missed an interview or recruiter message because of email? Let's hear it in the comment section 👇🏽

STOP rejecting candidates under the excuse of “overqualified.”

If a candidate knew the role, the responsibilities, and the salary (because it was clearly mentioned in the job description) and still applied, they did so by choice.

    They didn’t “accidentally” apply.
    They didn’t misunderstand the level.
They didn’t miss the compensation range.

They applied because the role aligned with what they want right now.

Yet time and time again, strong candidates are screened out with the assumption that:
    ▪️ “They’ll get bored”
▪️ “They’ll leave as soon as something better comes along”
▪️ “They’re too senior for this”
Let’s pause and question that logic.

In today’s market, professionals are intentionally redefining success. Some want stability. Some want better work-life balance. Some want to step away from constant pressure. Some are changing industries. Some are prioritizing mental health, family, or flexibility over titles.

Experience does not automatically equal flight risk.

As recruiters, our role is not just to filter — it’s to advocate and educate.
It’s our responsibility to help hiring managers see the full picture, not just a résumé that looks “too strong.”

Instead of rejecting candidates outright, why not:
    ▪️ Ask why they’re interested
▪️ Have an honest conversation about expectations
▪️ Trust adults to make informed career decisions for themselves
When we assume we know what’s best for candidates without asking them, we’re not protecting the business — we’re limiting it.

The job market is already hard enough.
Let’s stop complicating it with outdated assumptions.

If someone chooses the role, respects the salary, and is excited about the work — let them be considered.

    Talent deserves curiosity, not convenience.

    🙏🙏

The current job market is exhausting.

Behind every “Open to Work” badge is a person doing their best.

People are applying to hundreds of roles, tailoring resumes late at night, preparing for interviews they may never hear back from and quietly questioning their worth when silence follows. Rejections feel personal, even when we’re told “it’s just the market.”

Job seekers today aren’t lacking talent or motivation.
They’re facing hiring freezes and sudden role cancellations, long multi-round interview processes, automated rejections (or no response at all), and roles asking for “entry-level” experience with senior-level skills.

It’s tough to stay confident when effort doesn’t seem to match outcomes.

If you’re job hunting right now, this is your reminder: you are not failing. The system is strained, and it’s okay to feel tired, frustrated, or discouraged. Take breaks when you need to. Ask for help. Keep going, even slowly is still progress.

And if you’re in a position to hire, refer, mentor, or simply respond, please remember there’s a human on the other side of that application.

A little empathy goes a long way. 🧡

    • Hours spent searching for the right opportunity
    • Time invested in customizing the CV
    • Days of waiting with genuine hope

    • And finally, giving 100% in the interview

    Happy #jobseekers.

If you’ve been applying, interviewing, and refreshing your email all week… I want you to hear this: you did enough for today.

The job search can be exhausting, and you deserve to end the week feeling proud, not defeated.

Here’s how to “finish your job search” for today (and set yourself up for next week):

    1) Close out your open loops.
    - Send any follow-up emails (interviews, applications, networking).
    - Save job links you want to apply to next week.

    2) Update your job tracker.
    - Write it all down (seriously): company, role, date applied, follow-up date, notes from interviews or calls.

    3) Pick 3 priorities for next week.
Instead of trying to do everything, choose:
    - 5 targeted applications.
    - 2 networking messages.
    - 1 resume update or LinkedIn refresh.

    4) Learn one small thing.
    A 15-minute skill refresh counts:
    - LinkedIn Learning.
    - YouTube tutorial.
    - Quick certification module.

    5) Rest without guilt.
    - Your next opportunity won’t come from burnout.
    - It comes from consistency, clarity, confidence.

If you want a FREE resume review, email your resume and the role you’re targeting: [email protected]

You’ve got this! And next week is a fresh start.
