Why My CV Never Reached a Human (and How I Fixed It?)

    I sent out strong CVs.
    Good experience. Real results.
    And still - silence.

    That’s when I realized:
I wasn’t being rejected by people. I was being rejected by ATS systems.

What I learned the hard way:
    1. Your CV must match the job description: literally
    ATS doesn’t “understand” experience.
    It scans for keywords.
If the role says “IT manager” and your CV says “IT team lead with managing skills”, you may never be seen.

    2. Titles matter more than creativity
    Fancy titles confuse ATS.
    Use standard ones!
    Save creativity for the interview.

    3. Numbers beat responsibilities
“Managed clients” means nothing to a system.
“Reduced churn by 20%” passes filters: and catches human attention.

    4. Formatting can block you
    Columns, graphics, icons = risk.
Simple layout. One column. Clear headings.
👍 My advice: use "resume Spearmint" by Google Docs (instead of europass)

    5. One CV is not enough
I started tailoring my CV for each role.
    Same experience - different wording.
    Interview rate went up immediately.

    6. I copied keywords from the job description (on purpose)
    ATS scans for exact wording.
If the role says “IT marketing”, use that phrase; even if you normally say it differently.

    7. Don’t use a photo or age
ATS doesn’t need them: and in many markets they work against you.
Skills and results matter more than appearance or birth year.

    8. Put keywords at the top
    ATS scans from the beginning.
Your headline and summary should repeat the exact terms from the job description.

    9. Avoid “ChatGPT-style” phrases
Words like “results-driven”, “dynamic professional”, “passionate leader” add no value. Use facts, actions, and numbers instead.

ATS isn’t broken. It just doesn’t care how good you are.
If you want interviews, optimize for the system first - then prove your value to people.

🚨 RESIGNING BEFORE GETTING ANOTHER JOB OFFER

When an employee resigns without securing another job, it’s not just a personal move — it’s a loud message about the company itself.
Leaders should never dismiss such resignations.

They’re red flags that reveal more than you think about culture, leadership, and employee experience.

    💔 It reflects deep dissatisfaction.
When someone prefers uncertainty over staying, it means the pain of staying is worse than the fear of leaving.
That’s usually a symptom of poor management, distrust, or a toxic environment.

🧠 It signals emotional or mental burnout.
Employees don’t quit peace of mind.
When they walk away without a backup plan, it often means they’re choosing health over a paycheck.

    💬 It exposes poor communication.
If people don’t feel heard, seen, or appreciated, they disconnect silently — then disappear.
Sudden resignations reveal weak feedback channels and lack of recognition.

    🧭 It highlights leadership gaps.
When leadership fails to notice disengagement or stress until it’s too late, the problem isn’t the employee — it’s the system.
Strong leaders notice early and act fast.

🌪️ It damages the employer brand.
In the age of LinkedIn and Glassdoor, stories spread quickly.
When people leave without another job lined up, outsiders see a company that’s unhealthy or unrewarding.

🚫 It shows a loss of purpose.
Employees stay where they feel growth, trust, and respect.
If someone leaves without direction, it means they’ve already stopped seeing a future in your organization.

    🔍 The takeaway:

When employees resign without another offer, don’t judge — reflect.
    ✅ Conduct genuine exit interviews
✅ Evaluate your management and culture
    ✅ Rebuild trust and communication
The goal isn’t just retention — it’s to create a workplace people don’t want to escape.

Most professionals I speak to in Dubai have one thing in common:
    They’re qualified… but invisible.

It’s not because they lack skills.
It’s because UAE hiring doesn’t work the way people think it does.

    Here’s what actually matters here:
    • Visibility before applications
    • Timing over volume
    • Availability over perfection
    • Trust before interviews

That’s why many roles are filled before they’re ever posted.

I share practical, real-world insights on:
✔ How Dubai recruiters actually screen candidates
✔ Why some CVs are skipped in seconds
    ✔ What silently disqualifies applicants.
How to position yourself correctly in the UAE market

If you’re applying daily and hearing nothing, it’s usually fixable.

📩 DM me “UAE” if you want clarity on what’s blocking your job search

UAE & KSA Job Seekers: This is one of the main reasons strong profiles aren’t getting interviews.

As an executive recruiter working across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, I review hundreds of CVs every month. In most cases, I can determine within seconds whether a candidate progresses—or is filtered out.

    The reality:
Most CVs are not rejected due to lack of experience or seniority. They are rejected because they are not aligned with modern hiring practices and ATS systems used across the Gulf region.

Common red flags I see daily:
Outdated or overly designed CV formats that are not ATS-friendly
A focus on job duties rather than measurable impact, scale, or results

Poor keyword alignment with target roles, industries, and leadership mandates
Generic profiles that do not reflect the UAE or KSA market, sector, or level

Recently, I reviewed a highly qualified senior candidate who had applied to 50+ roles across UAE and KSA with zero interview requests. The issue was not capability—it was CV structure, visibility, and strategic positioning.

If your CV hasn’t been properly updated or tailored in the last 12 months, it may be silently blocking opportunities—no matter how strong your background is.

Actively exploring roles in the UAE or Saudi Arabia but not getting responses?

I’ll give you clear, honest feedback on whether your CV is opening doors—or quietly closing them.  less

The UAE job market has changed.

Having a big job title is no longer enough. Being good at your job is not enough either. What matters more now is who knows you and how visible you are.

The UAE Is a Network Market
Many jobs in the UAE are filled before they are posted online. People hire those they already know or those who come recommended.

If decision-makers don’t know you, they won’t think of you.

LinkedIn Is Your New CV In the UAE.

    Recruiters use it to check:
    What you do
    How you think
If you are active and up to date
If your profile is empty or inactive, it looks like you don’t exist.

Career growth today depends on three simple things:

    1. Be visible

Share simple insights from your work. Comment on industry topics. Let people see what you know.

    2. Network properly

Don’t just add people. Talk to them. Engage with their posts. Build familiarity before you need anything.

    3. Focus on value, not title

People who explain their value clearly grow faster than people who rely on job titles alone.

    Smart Professionals Are Always Ready
The smartest professionals don’t wait until they hate their job to start networking. They stay visible all the time, so opportunities come naturally.

In the UAE, careers grow through visibility, relationships, and trust.
If people don’t know you, you don’t move.  less

    Dear Recruiters, Read this 👇

When two candidates are equally competent in 2026,
I choose the one who’s out of work.

    Not because they’re weaker.
But because the job market is brutal right now.

My inbox is full of real stories:
    ✓ People missing rent
    ✓ People burning savings
✓ People pretending they’re “fine” on Social Media

Behind every “unemployed” profile is someone: – Refreshing email
    – Rewriting their resume again
    – Hoping for just one yes

    This isn’t about sympathy.
    This is about responsible hiring.

Long career gaps don’t always mean lack of skill.
    Sometimes they mean:
    ✓ Bad timing
    ✓ Layoffs
    ✓ Market slowdown

To recruiters and hiring managers reading this:

If someone has the right skills and mindset,
don’t disqualify them just because they’re currently unemployed.

    You might change their year.
    You might restore their confidence.
You might literally keep them going.

Hiring decisions aren’t just business decisions anymore.
    They’re human decisions.

And yes, you have more power than you think.

    Use it wisely.
    Use it kindly.
