My name is John Maina, and my journey is one marked by a passion for education, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments. With a background in Education Science, specializing in Mathematics and Physics, I have spent over seven years teaching in both local and international settings. My experiences have spanned diverse curricula, including IGCSE/EdExcel and GCSE systems, as well as working with students from varied cultural and academic backgrounds.
Education has always been more than a career for me; it is my calling. I have consistently sought opportunities to enhance my expertise, earning certifications in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and Speech Language Therapy (SLT). These qualifications reflect my dedication to supporting students with autism, speech delays, and other learning challenges. My work as a shadow teacher and my efforts in developing an educational app for autistic learners further underscore my belief that every student deserves access to quality education tailored to their needs.
Beyond the classroom, I am an advocate for holistic development. As a sports teacher, professional athlete, and certified Game of Learning Coach, I have inspired students to embrace teamwork, resilience, and discipline through athletics and other extracurricular activities. My experience coaching athletics and football at institutions such as Mahanaim International High School and Turkish Bright Group of Schools has allowed me to witness firsthand the transformative power of sports in shaping young lives.
Faith has been a guiding force in my life. As a Bible study teacher and former Christian Union Chair at the University of Eldoret, I have cultivated values of compassion, integrity, and service. While I prefer to keep my personal faith separate from my professional life, it continues to inform my approach to nurturing positive, inclusive communities.
Currently pursuing a Masterโs degree in Financial Engineering, I remain committed to lifelong learning and applying innovative solutions to complex challenges. My thesis, focused on designing a curriculum that motivates autistic students to pursue mathematics and sciences, embodies my vision of creating a more equitable and inspiring educational landscape.
