About Me
Dr. Michael W. Kimwele is a seasoned academic, researcher, and technology leader with over two decades of experience in higher education, digital transformation, research management, and innovation. He serves as a Senior Lecturer at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, where he has held several leadership positions, including Director of the School of Computing and Information Technology (SCIT), Acting Principal of the College of Pure and Applied Sciences, and Deputy Director of SCIT.
He holds a PhD in Information Technology, an MSc in IT Management, and a First Class Honours degree in Mathematics and Computer Science. His expertise spans artificial intelligence, digital transformation, cybersecurity, decision support systems, monitoring and evaluation, curriculum development, project management, and technology-enabled education.
Dr. Kimwele has led and contributed to numerous national and international initiatives, including climate-smart agriculture projects, research-industry collaboration programs, digital literacy initiatives, and AI-driven innovation projects. He has supervised multiple doctoral and master's students, served as an external examiner and reviewer, and actively supports capacity building across academia, industry, and government.
Passionate about leveraging technology for sustainable development, he continues to champion innovation, digital skills development, inclusive education, and evidence-based policy and practice across Africa.
