About Me
Atieno is a Clinical officer with over 28 years of experience in Diabetes care and education, clinical medicine, and public health in Sub-Saharan Africa. She has worked in Kenyan hospitals, the diabetes clinic at Kenyatta National and Kikuyu hospitals, and as Regional Education Coordinator at the International Diabetes Federation. She was a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of Kabarak University in Kenya. She is currently working at FERRING pharmaceuticals as Africa Project coordinator for a public health Access product, Project Family -Safe Birth.
She has wide experience in Diabetes care and Education, capacity building, health programming, community engagement and NCD related outreach activity. She has several publications in peer reviewed journals and for general readership.
Atieno holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Medicine from Mount Kenya University, Kenya, Master’s degree in Public Health (Health Education and Health promotion) from the University of the Western Cape, South Africa and a fellowship in Diabetes Care from UCL, London.
