About Me
I have 15 years’ experience in Humanitarian Logistics, EPI Cold Chain Management & Health/Nutrition supplies management, gained in various complex and dynamic security settings spanning Somalia, PNG, Malawi, Ukraine and greater Europe & Central Asia. My main strengths are in Supplies planning, Logistics, Inventory & warehousing management, EPI Cold Chain, Medical logistics and Procurement. I also have emergency experience in review and recommendation in HR structures to improve capacity, reduce duplication of work and maximize efficiencies, budget management and RBM application in EUM & fit-for-purpose in planning.
Till September 2022, I was a Supply & Logistics Specialist supporting the 21 countries and territories under UNICEF Europe & Central Asia Regional Office (ECAR) region in preparation & deployment of the new COVID-19 vaccine by offering technical & advisory support on Cold Chain management, equipment selection & procurement and ancillary Supply/Logistics support. Prior to this, I was a Supply Officer with UNICEF Malawi responsible for supplies procurement, increasing collaboration between S&L unit and programmes, increasing visibility of contracting & procurement processes, reducing procurement lead-times and maintaining efficient procurement, storage & distribution of supplies & services.
I have supported on mission assignments UNICEF Ukraine in 2022 on Emergency Preparedness & Response prior & after the Ukraine/Russia conflict and Papua New Guinea (PNG) in 2018 on the emergency response after the 7.5 Richter Scale earthquakes in the logistics planning & management.
Previously, I was the Nutrition programme Logistics Officer in UNICEF Somalia CO responsible for the Identification of Nutrition supplies, forecasting, procurement, pipelines, storage and timely distribution of the same among others. I also supported the Supply section in bid processes, supplies & service contracting & conducting performance evaluation of suppliers based on service & quality delivery timelines.
Prior to that, I was responsible for the Somalia Health section’s implementation of the GAVI funded Cold Chain Equipment Optimization Platform (CCEOP), facilitated the Effective Vaccine Management (EVM) assessment, the cold chain replacement & rehabilitation, introduction of Vaccination Supply Stock Management (VSSM) system & responsible for Logistics & Supplies management for the EPI, Polio eradication, MNCH & C4D programs.
Prior to my position in UNICEF-Somalia, I was engaged in Medical Engineering and Hospital Support Services as a Medical Engineering technologist in a 96-bed capacity hospital responsible for the maintenance of the Inventory Records for all the hospital and medical equipment, ensuring that the Hospital's buildings, medical equipment and ancillary works and service departments i.e. kitchen, laundry & mortuary are fully functional. Planning & carrying out the routine preventive maintenance schedule of the hospital and medical equipment. Advising the administration on the suitable equipment and spares sourcing and supervision of contractors and their crews as per the contract terms.
