Job Description

Role Overview

The Weighbridge Supervisor ensures that every truck entering or leaving the Distribution Centre is weighed accurately, safeguarding inventory integrity and dispatch precision. Day to day, this role operates the weighbridge system, cross-checks load weights against product specifications, and flags any discrepancies to the Deputy Lead Dispatch. By maintaining precise records and coordinating with transport and warehouse teams, the supervisor helps the facility meet legal weight limits and operational targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate the weighbridge to capture exact inbound and outbound truck weights, verifying each load against individual SKU weight limits.
  • Investigate and escalate any weight mismatches or documentation gaps to the Deputy Lead Dispatch for prompt resolution.
  • Log all weighbridge transactions in the legacy digital system, retaining a clear audit trail for compliance and reporting.
  • Compile daily summaries of truck weights, highlighting exceptions such as overloads, underloads, or missing paperwork.
  • Coordinate with transport providers to confirm truck arrivals and departures, ensuring the loading/unloading schedule stays on track.
  • Notify warehouse staff when trucks are ready, reducing idle time and streamlining dock operations.
  • Perform routine inspections of weighbridge equipment, reporting calibration needs or mechanical issues to maintenance immediately.
  • Identify and propose improvements to weighbridge procedures, data capture, or reporting to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Prior experience operating a weighbridge or coordinating logistics in a warehouse or distribution setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical ability to spot weight anomalies and record discrepancies.
  • Reliable record-keeping skills and willingness to escalate operational issues without delay.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel or comparable reporting tools for summarising weight data.
