Role Overview
The Weighbridge Officer controls and records vehicle weighing activity for incoming and outgoing waste and other materials. By checking each transaction, maintaining reliable records, and reconciling movements with operational and financial documents, the role helps protect data accuracy, support billing, and ensure waste movements follow approved procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the computerized weighbridge and record gross, tare, and net weights for relevant vehicle movements.
- Check customer, transporter, vehicle, waste classification, and supporting paperwork before authorizing a weighing transaction.
- Issue weighing tickets and enter complete, accurate transaction details into Odoo or another approved information system.
- Maintain orderly daily logs, registers, transaction files, and supporting documents for operational use and audit review.
- Prepare regular reports on vehicle movements, waste volumes, receipts, dispatches, and other weighbridge activity.
- Reconcile weight and movement records with receipt, dispatch, disposal, transporter, and financial documentation; investigate and escalate discrepancies or potential revenue losses.
- Coordinate with Finance, Operations, Laboratory, Security, Transport, and project teams to support controlled vehicle movements and compliant waste acceptance.
- Report unauthorized access, incomplete documentation, incorrect classifications, unusual transactions, or other departures from approved procedures, and support audits and improvements to transaction controls.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related discipline.
- At least three years of relevant experience in weighbridge operations, logistics, waste management, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, construction, or another industrial setting.
- Hands-on experience with a computerized weighbridge is advantageous.
- Working familiarity with ERP or management information systems; Odoo experience is preferred.
- Experience in transaction checks, reconciliations, operational reporting, financial controls, or similar record-control work.
- Understanding of waste receipt, transport and disposal records, vehicle movement controls, and document management; familiarity with environmental and waste rules in industrial or oil and gas operations is an advantage.
- Strong numerical and analytical ability, careful attention to detail, and confidence preparing clear reports using computer applications.
- Demonstrated integrity, accountability, discretion, and communication skills, including the ability to work with multiple operational and finance stakeholders.
- Ability to maintain accurate, compliant controls in a remote, fast-paced, and operationally demanding project environment.
