Job Description

Role Overview

This position owns the end-to-end relationship between Stanbic Bank and a defined book of high-net-worth individuals and families, acting as their single accountable contact across the Wealth & Investment proposition. Day to day, the job mixes advisory work — interpreting markets and shaping portfolios — with hands-on relationship management, coordinating specialists and product teams so that each client's banking, lending, investment and planning needs are handled coherently rather than in isolation. Success in the role directly shapes how the bank's wealth offering is perceived in the market, and how much of that reputation converts into retained and newly won business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the named relationship owner for a portfolio of affluent and high-net-worth clients, taking accountability for service quality, responsiveness and the overall client experience across every interaction.
  • Build a complete picture of each client's financial position and personal priorities — business interests, assets and liabilities, cash flow and liquidity requirements, appetite for risk, succession arrangements and longer-term legacy intentions — and use that understanding to shape advice.
  • Translate market movements, economic developments and complex investment concepts into clear, practical recommendations that clients can act on with confidence.
  • Design and review wealth solutions covering asset allocation, portfolio construction, diversification and risk management, aligned to each client's objectives and time horizons.
  • Bring the full range of Stanbic Bank products, services and internal expertise to bear on client needs, orchestrating product specialists and support functions rather than working in isolation.
  • Grow the portfolio's contribution through a deliberate mix of retaining existing relationships, deepening share of wallet, cross-selling and up-selling relevant solutions, and acquiring new high-net-worth clients.
  • Meet agreed revenue and business development targets for the portfolio, tracking progress and adjusting the client plan accordingly.
  • Apply risk, compliance and operational standards rigorously in all client dealings, resolving problems and escalations promptly while protecting both the client and the bank.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: A first degree in Business Commerce, Finance, Economics or a closely related discipline.
  • Professional certification: Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) qualification.
  • Experience: 8–10 years in client-facing banking, gained in private banking, private wealth, investment banking or commercial banking, with exposure to the operational and administrative processes that underpin client service.
  • Wealth and investment expertise: A demonstrated track record in wealth management, investment advisory and global financial markets, including working knowledge of asset classes, portfolio construction, diversification techniques, risk management and market dynamics.
  • Client relationship depth: Proven experience managing affluent and high-net-worth relationships, with the ability to hold holistic conversations covering business interests, assets and liabilities, liquidity needs, risk tolerance, succession planning and legacy goals, and to recommend comprehensive wealth solutions against those long-term objectives.
  • Market interpretation: The ability to read market developments and convert complex investment thinking into tailored, actionable guidance for sophisticated clients.
  • Risk and compliance grounding: Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements and a consistent record of maintaining high service standards and resolving issues effectively.
  • Behavioural strengths: Articulating information clearly, following procedures, interacting confidently with people, pursuing goals to completion, seizing opportunities and working collaboratively within a team.
  • Technical strengths: Client retention and servicing, cross- and up-selling, customer understanding, a strong customer experience mindset, and solid product knowledge.
