Role Overview
Tupande is opening cashew extension and aggregation operations in Lamu for the first time, and this position is the field anchor for that launch. You will lead a group of extension and aggregation officers across your assigned buying centers, converting day-to-day farmer engagement into dependable volumes of quality cashew while keeping every record and transaction clean. Because the region is new, a large part of the job is establishing routines, relationships and trust from the ground up rather than inheriting an existing system.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the daily work of the extension and aggregation officers in your area, keeping the team aligned to volume, quality and compliance targets at each buying center.
- Train and coach your officers so that field practices, grading and documentation meet a consistent standard across every site you supervise.
- Reconcile daily records, keep trackers current, and turn field data into accurate, timely reports for your manager.
- Enforce company controls, policies and procurement guidelines at all sites, flagging deviations early and correcting them quickly.
- Identify practical ways to strengthen the services and value the company delivers to farmers, and bring concrete proposals forward.
- Work with your manager to shape extension and aggregation growth strategies, including setting targets and the tactics to reach them.
- Support your officers in running farmer forums covering quality improvement, agronomy, certification and any other departmental trainings.
- Ensure farmers receive responsive service — grievances logged, followed up and resolved promptly at buying centers and field sites.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in agriculture, agribusiness, community development or a closely related discipline.
- At least two years of work experience in an agricultural field role, ideally involving smallholder supply chains.
- Familiarity with the cashew value chain — grades, quality parameters and seasonality — is valued but not mandatory.
- Demonstrated ability to plan field activities and troubleshoot problems as conditions change.
- Experience coordinating teams through harvesting and sourcing cycles with smallholder farmers.
- A clear track record of delivering against ambitious field targets.
- Genuine motivation to serve and work alongside smallholder farmers.
- Comfortable using Google Workspace tools (Docs, Sheets, Slides) for tracking, reporting and communication.
What We Offer / Why Join
You would be joining at the ground floor of a brand-new operating region, which means the systems you put in place, the team you develop and the farmer relationships you build will shape how Lamu performs long after launch. This is a hands-on leadership post for someone who prefers field presence to desk work and wants visible ownership of results in an untested market.
