Technical Sales Representative – Water Treatment / Ro Chemicals

Role Overview

This field-based technical sales position focuses on reverse osmosis treatment chemicals and the industrial plants that depend on them. The person spends time at customer sites diagnosing membrane fouling, scaling, and performance problems, then turns those findings into chemical programs and commercial proposals. Success in the role directly supports account growth while helping clients keep their RO systems running reliably and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Sell and promote RO chemical products, including antiscalants, dispersants, biocides, and clean-in-place or membrane cleaning chemistries.
• Visit customer facilities to survey RO systems, collect water samples, review operating records, and identify sources of scaling, fouling, or declining output.
• Convert water analysis and site data into treatment recommendations covering product choice, dosing rates, and system optimization.
• Prepare proposals that combine technical scope with commercial terms, and present them to plant managers, process engineers, and senior decision-makers.
• Run field evaluations, monitor chemical performance, and troubleshoot dosing, pretreatment, cleaning, or membrane-related issues as they arise.
• Strengthen relationships with industrial accounts to encourage repeat orders, contract renewals, and long-term supply partnerships.
• Coordinate with internal technical, operations, and customer service teams to support delivery, documentation, and follow-through.
• Stay current on RO membrane developments, treatment chemistries, and industry practices so customer advice remains credible and practical.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in chemical engineering, industrial chemistry, biochemistry, process engineering, or a closely related technical field.
• At least two to four years in technical sales or field service engineering within water or wastewater treatment.
• Proven experience selling specialty water treatment chemicals, such as RO antiscalants, membrane cleaners, coagulants, or flocculants.
• Solid understanding of RO membrane chemistry, scaling and fouling mechanisms, CIP procedures, and chemical dosing systems.
• Ability to interpret water analysis reports and translate them into suitable treatment solutions.
• Knowledge of major RO membrane brands would be an advantage.
• Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driving license and willingness to travel regularly to customer sites.
