Role Overview
The Technical Sales Engineer is responsible for growing revenue from commercial dairy machinery and automated processing systems in Nairobi and the wider region. Based along Mombasa Road, the role involves meeting dairy processors, cooperative societies, and agribusinesses to understand their milk collection, handling, and processing needs, then designing equipment packages that match their operational realities. This position matters because it pairs practical engineering advice with commercial follow-through, helping clients invest in machinery that improves capacity, reliability, and product quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and qualify new business opportunities among commercial dairy farms, processing plants, and cooperative societies that require industrial dairy equipment or technical machinery.
- Conduct site visits and facility assessments to evaluate existing processing lines, milk collection setups, utility capacity, and space constraints, and convert those findings into equipment requirements.
- Develop tailored technical solutions for pasteurization, milk handling, and other dairy processing operations, matching machinery specifications to each client’s throughput and production goals.
- Prepare detailed proposals, bills of quantities, commercial quotations, and equipment specifications that reflect customer parameters and internal pricing frameworks.
- Deliver technical pitches, equipment demonstrations, and sales presentations to business owners, plant managers, and technical decision-makers.
- Negotiate pricing, machinery specifications, delivery schedules, and service terms within the company’s approved commercial guidelines.
- Manage ongoing relationships with existing accounts, providing post-sale product guidance and technical reassurance to drive repeat business and referrals.
- Track competitor activity, dairy sector trends, and changing customer engineering needs, and share market intelligence with the sales and technical teams.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Dairy Technology, Mechatronics, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in B2B technical sales, capital equipment account management, industrial machinery promotion, or engineering business development.
- Practical knowledge of dairy processing line workflows, milk handling systems, pasteurization plants, and agricultural machinery setups.
- Ability to interpret engineering parameters and translate them into clear commercial value propositions for business owners and technical buyers.
- Strong negotiation and closing skills, with experience drafting accurate quotations and resolving technical-commercial issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, including confident presentation skills for formal pitches and equipment demonstrations.
- Readiness and flexibility to travel regularly for customer site assessments, plant audits, and regional field visits.
