Technical Director, Faith Integration & Programming

Role Overview

This global faith and development leadership role helps ensure that Christian identity informs World Vision’s programmes across sectors, regions and operating contexts. The role guides the use of Biblical Empowered Worldview principles in development and disaster management, while equipping teams with practical tools, learning and support to apply faith integration in their work.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the integration of Biblical Empowered Worldview principles across transformational development, Future Ready Sponsorship and other programme areas.
• Support the wider delivery of the BEWV and Transformational Development learning module, and encourage its use by staff, partners, regional teams and field offices.
• Create and maintain practical BEWV resources, including guidance and manuals, with approaches suited to children, adolescents and young people.
• Work with sector leaders to develop ways of incorporating Christian identity into programme design and delivery, including grant acquisition and NEXUS programming.
• Promote the use of the Spiritual Landscape Assessment as a foundation for programme planning, and strengthen collaboration between Global Center Faith & Development and VisionFund.
• Advance Christian identity programming in restricted and challenging settings by supporting competency development, contextual guidance, staff capacity and peer learning hubs.
• Identify emerging ideas and evidence in faith and development, share relevant learning through communities of practice, and benchmark approaches with peer organisations.
• Manage and develop a small team responsible for faith integration and programme capacity strengthening; represent the function externally and contribute to other team priorities as needed.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Master’s degree in international development, theology, social sciences or a related discipline, together with formal theological training.
• At least 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in international development programming, including faith and development; substantial field experience is required, with at least five years in field-based roles.
• Strong grasp of faith and development principles, methods, measures and indicators, and experience applying evidence-based approaches.
• Experience engaging faith leaders and faith-based actors in development or humanitarian work, and working across multiple countries and diverse cultural settings.
• Experience with grant-funded programmes financed by bilateral or multilateral donors; familiarity with sponsorship and grant-funded NGO models is an advantage.
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders, collaborate across a complex international organisation, and build effective relationships with cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams.
• Experience designing practical tools or innovative approaches, and leading, coaching or developing a team, is an advantage.
• Strong programme management, organisation and time management skills, with excellent written and spoken English for technical communication, facilitation, training and stakeholder engagement. French, Spanish, Arabic or Portuguese is an advantage.
• High cultural sensitivity and emotional intelligence, alongside a personal commitment to Christian faith and values and a Christ-centred approach to work.
