System Administrator - Infrastructure

Role Overview

This position keeps the organization’s server, storage, virtualization, and backup foundations running smoothly so business systems remain available, secure, and responsive. The person in the role works hands-on with operating systems, infrastructure services, access controls, and recovery processes, resolving issues before they disrupt operations and improving resilience over time. Because these systems underpin daily business activity, the role directly supports service continuity, data protection, and user productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer Linux/UNIX and other server environments, including installation, configuration, tuning, upgrades, and routine maintenance.
• Monitor infrastructure health, capacity, and performance; troubleshoot incidents within agreed service targets and carry out root-cause analysis.
• Manage backup schedules, verify backup success, test restores, and maintain disaster recovery replication, failover readiness, and recovery documentation to meet agreed recovery objectives.
• Apply security hardening, patching, antivirus/EDR controls, and privileged-account safeguards, and support vulnerability remediation and security reviews.
• Handle user and system access throughout its lifecycle—provisioning, changes, removals—and support periodic access reviews.
• Follow change and configuration management steps: assess risk, secure approvals, test changes, document results, and keep configuration records accurate.
• Support audits, licensing compliance, ICT policy enforcement, and the timely closure of infrastructure audit findings.
• Coordinate with ICT colleagues, users, and third-party vendors; maintain operational documentation and recommend improvements to infrastructure reliability and efficiency.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related IT discipline.
• 2–3 years of experience in a systems or infrastructure administration role.
• Hands-on Linux/UNIX server administration, covering installation, configuration, patching, and troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls, and basic network troubleshooting.
• Experience with virtualized environments, server and storage management, and backup solutions.
• Practical exposure to backup monitoring, restoration, replication, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Understanding of system hardening, access controls, patch management, antivirus/EDR, and security best practices.
• Knowledge of ITIL/ITSM principles, including incident, problem, and change management.
• SAP administration and/or database administration experience is an advantage.
• Strong monitoring and troubleshooting ability, problem-solving skills, clear documentation habits, effective communication and presentation skills, and a customer-service mindset.
