Role Overview
As a Puzzle Designer, you will create original, demanding reasoning puzzles in your native language for a content-development project examining advanced language and reasoning skills. You will draw on the structures, meanings, and cultural context of your language to make puzzles that an educated native speaker can solve through careful thought, rather than by searching online or relying on familiar automated approaches.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop original puzzles involving features such as grammar, syntax, ambiguity, and other language-specific patterns.
- Design logic challenges informed by cultural knowledge or context, rather than questions answerable through general web searches.
- Write inventive riddles and wordplay that depend on meanings or associations particular to the target language.
- Provide a definitive answer and a clear, step-by-step explanation for each puzzle.
- Translate each prompt, solution, and explanation into English for project review.
- Assess the difficulty of each puzzle for a native speaker.
- Check that submissions are original, solvable, and not adapted from existing puzzles, published material, or readily searchable facts.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Native-level command of the target language, with excellent written expression.
- Strong English proficiency for accurate translation and clear explanations.
- Knowledge of linguistics, creative writing, translation, logic, mathematics, or a related field.
- Ability to combine lateral thinking with rigorous, multi-step reasoning.
- Understanding of how automated systems process language and how to create challenges that resist routine computational solutions.
- Commitment to producing original work; existing English puzzles must not be translated, and puzzles must not be copied from books, websites, or online collections.
