SR Software Engineer

Role Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack), you will be responsible for building and maintaining web-based applications across the entire technical stack — from database logic to the user interface — for PrismHR's flagship HCM products deployed in SaaS, mobile, and on-premise environments. You will join a distributed engineering team and take a lead role in development, code quality, system design, and mentoring. Your work will directly shape the reliability, performance, and scalability of critical human capital management software.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and debug complex application code spanning front-end, back-end, and database layers.
• Write and execute unit tests for all assigned work to ensure code reliability and catch regressions early.
• Produce clear technical documentation covering multiple phases of the software development lifecycle.
• Lead code reviews and champion software engineering best practices across the team.
• Drive system design efforts, ensuring that security, performance, data integrity, and scalability are baked into every architecture decision.
• Review product requirements to confirm the resulting design is cohesive, functionally sound, and aligned with user needs.
• Collaborate closely with the Quality Assurance team to ensure testing strategies fully cover new features and edge cases.
• Act as a technical mentor for developers, encouraging growth, code craftsmanship, and shared expertise.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, advanced degree, or equivalent practical experience, plus 10+ years of experience in the software industry with a focus on product design, architecture, or technical support.
• Expert-level proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript with 5+ years of hands-on development experience.
• Strong experience building and maintaining complex single-page applications using modern frameworks such as AngularJS, React, or Vue.js.
• In-depth knowledge of HTML, CSS, SCSS, and related web technologies.
• Solid experience with RESTful web services and microservice architectures, particularly using Node.js and Express.
• Proven ability to work with Agile development methodologies, continuous integration, test-driven development, and Git version control.
• Experience running applications with Docker on Linux or macOS environments.
• Familiarity with NoSQL or MultiValue (PICK) databases.
• Demonstrated experience or strong interest in legacy modernization — taking older systems and incrementally updating them to modern architectures.
• HCM (Human Capital Management) domain knowledge is a plus.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine desire to mentor other developers.
• Strong willingness to learn new technologies, tackle challenging problems, and take direction when needed.
• Positive, collaborative attitude with the ability to contribute as an individual and share expertise effectively with the team.
