Job Description

Role Overview

This senior growth leader will shape how the business attracts, converts and retains subscribers across African markets, with responsibility for both customer outcomes and revenue performance. The role combines hands-on analysis of subscription and marketing data with content strategy, distribution partnerships and leadership of a regional team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and deliver growth plans across acquisition, conversion, average revenue per user, engagement, retention and churn.
  • Analyse GA4, revenue dashboards and customer data to spot performance trends, diagnose gaps and recommend practical commercial actions.
  • Develop content and audience plans that contribute directly to subscriber growth and retention, rather than focusing solely on reach or visibility.
  • Manage relationships with telcos and digital distribution partners across African markets, overseeing performance reviews, negotiations, renewals and potential new opportunities.
  • Partner with Product, Finance, Marketing and Content colleagues to improve pricing, customer journeys and overall commercial results.
  • Lead a small, geographically distributed team, establishing priorities, measurable KPIs and clear accountability.
  • Track customer behaviour, competitors and market developments to identify and assess new growth opportunities.
  • Share evidence-based commercial recommendations with the CEO and other senior stakeholders.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Sales, Economics, Analytics or a related discipline.
  • Relevant experience in a digital subscription, streaming, media, fintech, mobile, technology or consumer digital business.
  • Demonstrated results growing subscribers, customers or users and increasing revenue.
  • Experience managing telco, digital distribution, billing or technology partnerships in African markets.
  • Practical proficiency with GA4, revenue dashboards and customer or marketing analytics.
  • Strong command of subscription metrics, including acquisition, conversion, ARPU, engagement, retention and churn.
  • Experience developing content marketing and audience growth strategies, alongside a track record leading regional or distributed teams.
  • Strong commercial judgement, negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Must be able to independently interpret subscriber, revenue, content and marketing data and turn findings into clear business actions. Partnership expertise without proven data-led growth experience is not sufficient for this role.
