Our Mandate The Judicial Service Commission is an independent Commission established under Article 171 of the Constitution. Its mandate as stipulated in Article 172 of the Constitution is to promote and facilitate the independence and accountability of the Judiciary and the efficient, effective and transparent administration of justice. Our Functions Recommend to the President persons for appointment as judges. Review and make recommends on condition of service for judges (other than their remuneration), judicial officers and staff of the Judiciary. Receive complaints against, investigate and remove from office or otherwise disciplining registrars, magistrates, other judicial officers and other staff of the Judiciary. Prepare and implement programmes for the continuing education and training of judges and judicial officers. Remuneration: Gross Salary Scale: Min. Kshs 212,141 - Max Kshs 325,753 p.m.

Job Requirements: Academic and Professional Qualifications:

  • For appointment to the position of Senior Legal Researcher, an applicant must have the following qualifications.
  • A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree or its equivalent from a recognized university
  • Be an Advocate of the High Court with a current practicing certificate.
  • Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
  • Membership to Law Society of Kenya.
  • Proficiency in Computer applications.
  • A postgraduate diploma in law from the Kenya School of Law or an exemption by the Council of Legal Education or a equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution

Experience:

  • Be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya with at least four (4) years post – admission qualification.
