Job Description

Role Overview

You will own the full lifecycle of electronic security installations, from first response to final handover, working on CCTV, access control, and intruder detection systems. Your day-to-day work involves physically deploying equipment, running and terminating cabling, configuring software and network settings, and restoring service when faults occur. Your output matters directly to the company because every system you integrate becomes a billable, client-trusted asset that must perform reliably under real security pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform structured installation of security hardware, including cameras, readers, controllers, sensors, and alarm panels, across new and retrofit sites.
  • Troubleshoot system faults systematically at component, circuit, and software levels, and carry out repairs or component replacements to restore full functionality.
  • Integrate security sub-systems with existing networks, building management platforms, and central monitoring stations to enable unified control and alerting.
  • Conduct on-site security assessments to identify physical and electronic gaps, then develop itemised bill of quantities (BOQs) and proposed system layouts for clients.
  • Commission installed systems, performing point-to-point testing, signal verification, and failover checks before presenting the final acceptance report.
  • Provide hands-on training for client staff covering daily arming and disarming, user management, camera operation, and basic procedural responses to alarms.
  • Act as the technical escalation point for helpdesk requests, resolving remote issues through diagnostics guidance and scheduling site visits for unresolved cases.
  • Cooperate closely with project managers and electricians to ensure installations meet quoted timelines, security-industry standards, and local safety regulations.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • At least two years of hands-on field experience in electronic security systems; a formal trade qualification in electronics or a related discipline is strongly preferred.
  • Proven technical competence with IP and analogue CCTV cameras, door access systems, biometrics readers, and the major alarm control panel brands used in commercial installations.
  • Solid understanding of low-voltage wiring practices, network basics (IP addressing, PoE, VLANs), and the ability to read schematic and architectural drawings.
  • Experience using diagnostic tools such as multimeters, network testers, and lens alignment equipment, alongside comfort in using laptop-based configuration software.
  • Strong written communication for producing service reports, compliance documentation, and assessment findings in a clear and client-friendly format.
  • Physical fitness and comfort working at height on ladders and lift equipment, plus a valid driver's license that allows travel between work sites.
  • Client-facing professionalism demonstrated through previous roles that required both calm customer interaction and the ability to explain technical solutions simply.
  • Willingness to join an on-call rotation and respond to urgent security system failures when they occur outside normal working hours.
