Role Overview
This position centres on the safe, punctual operation of saloon cars and other light company vehicles across both city streets and upcountry routes. You will be trusted to transport staff, clients, and official materials while keeping the vehicle in pristine condition and upholding strict professional standards. Your reliability directly supports the organisation’s daily operations, making you a vital link between people, places, and time-sensitive deliveries.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive company saloon cars and light vehicles with full attention to safety, comfort, and timeliness on urban and upcountry journeys.
- Pick up and drop off staff, clients, and visitors according to schedule, adjusting to route changes and traffic conditions as needed.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections covering tyres, brakes, lights, fuel, fluid levels, and general vehicle condition.
- Report any mechanical faults, unusual noises, or maintenance concerns to the appropriate supervisor immediately after noticing them.
- Keep the assigned vehicle clean, organised, well-serviced, and fully equipped with valid documentation and safety essentials.
- Comply with all traffic regulations, company driving policies, and road safety procedures at all times, including defensive driving techniques.
- Maintain accurate records for each trip, including start and end mileage, fuel purchases, destinations, and travel times.
- Protect passenger privacy and confidentiality, especially when carrying sensitive documents or discussing official matters.
- Support light administrative duties such as delivering parcels, collecting documents, or running approved errands when requested.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Valid, current driver's licence permitting operation of saloon cars and light vehicles.
- KCSE Certificate or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- At least 4 years of hands-on driving experience, preferably as a company, executive, or professional driver.
- Valid Certificate of Good Conduct issued within the required timeframe.
- Age 25 years or older.
- Strong working knowledge of the Highway Code, traffic laws, and route planning for both city and upcountry travel.
- Neat, professional appearance and the ability to represent the employer positively while interacting with passengers and the public.
- Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.
- Physical fitness and flexibility to handle long journeys, early starts, and occasional extended working days.
