Role Overview
Our client, a manufacturer of animal feeds, is expanding its commercial footprint across the Mt. Kenya region and needs a Sales Representative who can turn that territory into a reliable growth engine. Day to day, you will be in the field meeting farmers, agrovet operators, dealers and distributors — opening new accounts, keeping existing ones supplied and making sure orders translate into repeat business. Your work directly determines how much of the region's feed demand the company captures, which is why proven territory knowledge and a self-driven approach matter more here than a desk-based sales style.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive sales of the company's animal feeds to farmers, agrovet retailers, dealers and distributors throughout the assigned Mt. Kenya territory.
- Prospect for and onboard new customers, identifying untapped outlets, farming operations and distribution partners that fit the company's route-to-market.
- Nurture long-term relationships with existing buyers so that one-off purchases turn into consistent repeat orders.
- Meet agreed sales targets and track personal performance against them on an ongoing basis.
- Follow each order through from placement to delivery, and pursue outstanding payments from customers.
- Keep a close watch on competitor activity, pricing movements and shifts in local demand, and feed that intelligence back to management.
- Prepare and submit regular sales reports covering volumes, new accounts, challenges and territory opportunities.
- Travel extensively across the region to cover established routes and maintain visibility with the customer network.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in a comparable sales role within the animal feeds industry, ideally gained in the Mt. Kenya region.
- Solid working knowledge of the region's market dynamics, travel routes and existing customer networks.
- Strong selling, negotiation and communication abilities, with the confidence to close deals in the field.
- Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision and to travel extensively across the territory.
- Relevant training or a qualification in agriculture, animal science, agribusiness, sales or marketing would be an added advantage.
Candidates who meet the above requirements should forward their CV to [email protected] using “Sales Representative (Animal Feeds) – Mt. Kenya Region” as the email subject line.
