Job Description

Role Overview

This position is responsible for providing the Sacco's Chief Executive Officer and authorised team members with dependable, professional transport. Your day-to-day work involves planning trips safely, keeping the assigned vehicle roadworthy and clean, delivering documents when needed, and offering sensible administrative and logistical support. The role matters because every journey you make reflects the Sacco's efficiency and professionalism, and because timely, secure transport helps leadership carry out its duties without unnecessary disruption.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport the CEO and other authorised staff to official meetings, field visits, and scheduled appointments, ensuring punctual departure and arrival.
  • Carry out daily pre-trip inspections covering brake and clutch fluid levels, engine oil, coolant, battery condition, tyre pressure, lights, and other essential components.
  • Keep the assigned vehicle clean, tidy, and professionally presented at all times, both for daily use and for official functions or visitors.
  • Report mechanical concerns promptly, arrange for minor repairs within your capability, and escalate major faults to the appropriate officer for timely servicing.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in the vehicle logbook, including travel routes, mileage, fuel purchases, and service history.
  • Handle the confidential and timely delivery of letters, documents, banking items, and parcels to partners, regulators, and other institutions as directed.
  • Follow the Highway Code, Sacco policies, and road safety protocols strictly, adapting your driving style to changing weather, traffic, and road conditions.
  • Provide general administrative and logistical support to the office team, including errands, coordination of vehicle maintenance, and other assigned duties.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education at mean grade C (plain) or higher, or a government-recognised certificate in a relevant field.
  • At least four years of professional driving experience, preferably in a corporate, public, or recognised institutional setting.
  • A valid driving licence for the required class of vehicle, with a clean and demonstrable record free of serious traffic offences.
  • Defensive driving training and a recognised defensive driving certificate will be an added advantage.
  • Proven ability to operate a vehicle safely and confidently in diverse weather, traffic, and road conditions, including high-pressure executive schedules.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact professionally with senior leadership, staff, and external contacts.
  • Sound organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing tasks and remain flexible when plans change.
  • A high degree of responsibility, integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism, with strict adherence to organisational policies and legal requirements.

Chapter Six Compliance

The successful candidate will need to meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, prior to taking up the appointment. This involves obtaining and presenting the following clearance documents: a current Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), a Tax Compliance Certificate from KRA, a HELB compliance certificate in line with relevant laws, a clearance certificate from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), and clearance from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
