Room Stewards

Role Overview

This is a casual, on-call housekeeping position supporting the room stewardship team at a premium hotel in the Westlands area. You will be responsible for maintaining immaculate guest rooms and public spaces to the exacting standards expected in a four- or five-star property, stepping in at short notice to cover shifts and ensure every guest experience remains flawless. Your attention to detail directly upholds the hotel’s reputation for comfort, hygiene, and hospitality excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and service assigned guest rooms according to strict hotel protocols, including making beds, replenishing linens, and arranging amenities to brand specifications.
• Conduct thorough inspections of rooms and corridors, reporting any maintenance issues, missing items, or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.
• Deep-clean and sanitize bathrooms, surfaces, fixtures, and high-touch points using approved cleaning agents and equipment.
• Respond promptly to guest requests for extra towels, toiletries, or other housekeeping needs with a courteous and professional attitude.
• Restock housekeeping trolleys and storage areas, ensuring adequate supplies are available for upcoming shifts and room assignments.
• Follow all health, safety, and hygiene regulations, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and waste disposal procedures.
• Support the housekeeping team during peak check-out times, turnaround cleans, and special event set-ups as directed by the supervisor.
• Maintain discretion and respect for guest privacy, always entering rooms in accordance with hotel security policies.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Certificate or Diploma in Housekeeping, Hospitality Management, or Hotel Management from a recognised institution.
• Mandatory prior experience as a Room Steward or Housekeeping Attendant in a 4- or 5-star hotel environment.
• Solid working knowledge of professional housekeeping standards, cleaning techniques, and room setup procedures used in luxury hospitality.
• Exceptional eye for detail, with the ability to spot imperfections that others overlook and maintain consistent quality under time pressure.
• Strong customer service orientation and clear communication skills, both with guests and team members.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also handling tasks independently when required.
• Professional appearance, personal grooming, and a positive, presentable demeanour at all times.

Location note: Candidates living within roughly a 30-minute commute of Westlands are strongly preferred, as this casual, need-based role may require reporting to the hotel on short notice.
