Role Overview
As a Forklift Operator, you will keep materials moving safely between receiving, storage, dispatch, and production areas. Your inspections, careful handling, and coordination with production colleagues help prevent damage, support accurate shipments, and ensure teams receive the materials they need on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete pre-use forklift checks and record inspection findings and maintenance needs.
- Operate forklifts in line with site safety procedures and assigned tasks.
- Keep equipment clean and check for issues such as oil leaks, reporting concerns promptly.
- Load and unload materials in designated warehouse, production, and dispatch areas.
- Check inbound and outbound goods for accuracy and visible damage, escalating discrepancies immediately.
- Coordinate material transfers with supervisors, machine operators, and production teams.
- Deliver the correct materials to production as directed by the Production Supervisor or Manager.
- Prioritise movements and respond to operational issues while maintaining safe working practices.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least two years of forklift operating experience in a manufacturing, warehousing, or logistics setting.
- A diploma or certificate in plant operation, or a higher qualification.
- Knowledge of forklift inspections and basic maintenance practices.
- Careful approach to shipment checks, material identification, and damage detection.
- Clear communication skills for coordinating with supervisors and operational teams.
- Ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple requests, and stay composed under pressure.
- Basic problem-solving skills to recognise and report equipment or materials issues early.
