Role Overview
This position runs the daily operations of a guesthouse property in Kitui–Mutomo, combining hospitality management with facilities oversight and official driving duties. The Property Manager keeps rooms, grounds, staff, supplies, and vehicles working together so guests receive a smooth, safe, and well-presented stay. The role matters because the guesthouse depends on reliable on-site leadership to protect service quality, assets, and day-to-day operational continuity.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee front-desk routines, guest arrivals, departures, and stay-related requests, ensuring each visitor receives attentive and organised service.
- Lead and coordinate housekeeping, cleaning, and grounds staff, setting presentation and hygiene expectations and checking that work is completed to standard.
- Inspect buildings, plumbing, electrical fittings, and outdoor areas, then arrange and supervise local fundis, technicians, or contractors for timely repairs.
- Monitor stock for cleaning materials, toiletries, linens, and room supplies, and coordinate replenishment before shortages affect guests.
- Keep maintenance logs, expense records, utility readings, petty cash entries, and procurement paperwork accurate and up to date.
- Maintain security practices that safeguard guests, employees, equipment, and property, including regular walk-throughs to spot risks or losses.
- Drive the company vehicle for guest transfers, market runs, supply collection, and administrative errands while following road safety rules.
- Arrange vehicle cleaning, servicing, pre-trip checks, and roadworthiness inspections, and record mileage, fuel use, and service history.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or certificate in property management, hospitality management, hotel operations, business administration, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 2–3 years of supervisory experience in a guesthouse, hotel, or residential property setting.
- Valid Kenyan driving licence with a clean driving record and no less than 2 years of professional driving experience.
- Practical knowledge of building maintenance, basic vehicle troubleshooting, and coordinating repairs with local technicians.
- Working competence in Microsoft Word and Excel for records, logs, and basic reporting.
- Strong leadership, guest-service, problem-solving, and integrity skills, with the ability to work independently on-site.
