Role Overview
Lead a 12-month, multi-country programme supporting more than 100 content creators in Nigeria, Kenya and Zambia to respond to AI-enabled disinformation during important election periods. You will bring together practical AI tools, training on synthetic media, legal support and the development of moderation and editorial-quality technology, coordinating partners and delivery teams to make the programme relevant, well managed and useful beyond the initial countries.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and oversee programme delivery from design through completion, meeting technical, contractual, donor and organisational requirements.
- Manage and coach a Senior Project Coordinator, setting priorities and providing oversight of day-to-day implementation.
- Coordinate staff, consultants and delivery partners across Nigeria, Kenya, Zambia and other appropriate locations, including workshops and related activities.
- Oversee the programme’s four connected areas: AI-assisted editorial workflows, creator resilience to synthetic media, legal safeguards for public publishing, and AI-based moderation and editorial-quality tools.
- Maintain programme governance, including workplans, budgets, forecasts, financial controls, risk registers and regular progress reporting.
- Build and sustain partner relationships, acting as a key contact and supporting collaborative design, delivery and accountability against agreed objectives.
- Develop and manage monitoring, evaluation and learning processes, including theories of change, logframes, indicators, donor reports and records of outcomes and lessons.
- Assess changes in political, legal, economic and technological conditions, adapt activities to local contexts, and represent the Foundation with partners; travel internationally as programme needs require.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least five years of demonstrated project or programme management experience, including delivery of complex work to a high standard and within demanding timelines.
- Experience working with content creators or young journalists, or at the intersection of AI and media.
- Experience managing partnerships built around shared programme design and delivery, as well as remote teams and external technical consultants.
- Evidence of delivering multiple workstreams and outputs on schedule and within budget.
- Experience evaluating programme impact and developing tools such as logframes, theories of change, key performance indicators and reports.
- Strong financial management and grant oversight skills, including confident use of Excel.
- Excellent planning and organisational ability, with sound judgement when priorities shift and deadlines are tight.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to maintain quality while working at pace.
- Ability to tailor programme design and implementation to different local contexts.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, outreach and networking skills, including the ability to work constructively with people from diverse backgrounds and in challenging circumstances.
- Fluency in English.
- Experience leading AI or technology programmes, particularly in the AI-media field, is an advantage. Media development experience in Kenya, Nigeria or Zambia is also an advantage.
What We Offer / Why Join
- A one-year fixed-term opportunity to lead a regional programme focused on creator safety, responsible use of AI and stronger responses to election-related disinformation.
