Role Overview
This role strengthens the evidence and planning behind the CCCM response to El Niño and flooding, turning programme monitoring and assessment findings into practical updates for managers, donors, government counterparts and humanitarian partners. The postholder will also help shape recovery planning and funding proposals, and provide temporary continuity for CCCM information management during a maternity leave absence.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce regular analytical updates on the El Niño CCCM response, tracking displacement, emerging risks, priority needs and actions underway.
- Compile and analyse findings from affected districts to develop a post-flooding needs assessment that supports recovery and transition planning.
- Prepare briefings, presentations and situation updates for internal management and external stakeholders, drawing on assessments and programme monitoring.
- Maintain and improve CCCM monitoring and MEAL products, covering indicators, progress, beneficiary feedback, accountability findings, implementation challenges and recommended adjustments.
- Consolidate programme trackers for deliverables, targets, schedules and reporting obligations, identifying delays and gaps in implementation.
- Assist the CCCM Programme Manager with reviewing the internal organogram in light of the latest SAP, staffing arrangements and programme priorities.
- Contribute to programme design and resource mobilisation by preparing concept notes, proposals and funding pipeline updates, especially for El Niño preparedness, response and recovery.
- Record lessons, effective practices and recommendations from CCCM activities, assessments and El Niño preparedness and response; provide temporary information management coverage, including data analysis and information products through Zite Manager.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Master’s degree in international relations, political science, business or public administration, humanitarian affairs, conflict studies or a related discipline, with at least two years of relevant professional experience; alternatively, a university degree in one of these fields and at least four years of relevant experience.
- Experience supporting CCCM programming in settings involving internally displaced people, refugees or migration.
- Background in developing humanitarian project designs, concept notes and proposals that respond to donor requirements and strategic priorities.
- Experience producing project and donor reports to a high standard, as well as developing monitoring and evaluation approaches, collecting data and analysing results.
- Strong knowledge of CCCM and the humanitarian system, including the roles of UN agencies, IOM and NGOs. Familiarity with Somalia is an advantage.
- Ability to produce clear, persuasive reports and briefings, with skill in presenting findings through visual materials.
- Confident use of Microsoft Office and digital data collection platforms such as Kobo Collect or ODK; experience with communication or design tools such as Adobe InDesign is an advantage.
- Sound problem-solving, organisation and communication skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and coordinate with colleagues working remotely.
- Ability to build constructive, respectful working relationships with local colleagues, authorities, communities and other stakeholders.
