Role Overview
This academic position calls for a dedicated lecturer to deliver high-quality university instruction, guide students through their academic journey, and contribute to the university’s research and scholarly output. Your day-to-day work will span preparing and presenting lectures, assessing student performance, mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate learners, and collaborating with faculty on curriculum and departmental initiatives. By blending teaching expertise with ongoing research and professional engagement, you will help uphold academic standards and prepare graduates for success in their chosen fields.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver lectures, seminars, and tutorials in your area of specialization, ensuring content is current, rigorous, and aligned with learning outcomes.
- Develop and administer assessments, including assignments, examinations, and practical projects, and provide constructive feedback to support student progress.
- Supervise student research, including final-year projects, dissertations, and theses, offering guidance on methodology, analysis, and academic writing.
- Conduct original research and contribute to peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and other scholarly activities relevant to your field.
- Participate in curriculum review and development, helping to refine existing programmes and introduce new learning materials or approaches.
- Support student development through academic advising, office hours, and mentoring on professional and research matters.
- Serve on departmental and university committees, contributing to governance, quality assurance, and institutional planning.
- Engage with professional bodies, industry partners, and the wider academic community to ensure teaching and research remain connected to real-world practice.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in the relevant area of specialization from a recognized university is required; a PhD in the discipline will be considered a distinct advantage.
- Demonstrable university-level teaching experience, with the ability to engage, challenge, and support diverse groups of students.
- Where applicable, relevant professional or industry experience that enriches teaching and connects academic content to practical application.
- A clear record of scholarly engagement, shown through publications, conference participation, research projects, or equivalent professional outputs.
- Compliance with the requirements of the Commission for University Education (CUE) and any other relevant regulatory or professional bodies governing university academic staff.
- Where applicable, maintain current registration or membership with the appropriate professional or regulatory organization for the discipline.
