Operations Team Member-Java Shell Gatitu

Role Overview

This role supports both front-of-house service and kitchen operations, helping guests receive accurate, appealing meals without unnecessary delays. You will move between taking and delivering orders, assisting with food preparation, and keeping dining and work areas clean, safe, and ready for service.

Key Responsibilities

• Take guest orders, check them against ticket details, deliver meals neatly and accurately, present bills promptly, and receive payments.
• Explain menu choices and new items, make relevant recommendations, and use guests’ preferences to guide responsible upselling.
• Coordinate with kitchen and service colleagues on order progress and guest requests, and step in during busy periods to help keep service moving.
• Assist with food preparation, presentation, storage, and production, ensuring meals meet required quality, temperature, and freshness standards.
• Keep tables, waiter stations, the kitchen, equipment, utensils, and guest and staff washrooms clean and orderly.
• Follow food-safety, sanitation, detergent-use, and established operating procedures throughout service and production.
• Restock condiments, manage waste, empty bins, and clean grease traps as required.
• Help with assigned opening and closing tasks according to operational needs.

Requirements & Qualifications

• KCSE certificate with a mean grade of C plain.
• At least six months of experience as a certified Java House staff member.
• In-house service training.
• Strong customer-care and interpersonal skills, with an interest in hospitality.
• Ability to plan work, make sound decisions under pressure, and resolve problems effectively.
• Reliable, responsible, flexible, proactive, and able to work well with a team.
• Clear communication and the confidence to introduce menu items and recommend suitable options.
• Self-driven and results-oriented, with the stamina to work under pressure and for long hours.
