Operations Team Member

Role Overview

This restaurant service role combines attentive table service with practical support for food preparation, kitchen hygiene and daily operations. You will help guests receive accurate, appealing meals without unnecessary delays, while keeping dining and work areas clean, safe and ready for service.

Key Responsibilities

• Take guest orders, confirm ticket details and serve food neatly and promptly, ensuring meals are presented at the right temperature and meet required quality standards.
• Explain menu choices, respond to guest preferences and recommend suitable items, including new menu offerings.
• Coordinate with kitchen and service colleagues about order progress, special requests and guest needs; provide extra support during busy periods.
• Present bills promptly and receive payments as required.
• Prepare and handle food according to established procedures, including appropriate presentation, storage and production standards.
• Keep tables, waiter stations and the dining area clean, orderly and service-ready; restock condiments as needed.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, crockery, washrooms and other assigned areas, using detergents correctly and following food-safety practices.
• Dispose of waste and clean grease traps appropriately, and assist with opening or closing tasks when assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications

• At least six months of experience as a certified Java House staff member.
• KCSE certificate with a mean grade of C plain.
• In-house training in service.
• Strong customer-care and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and handle guest concerns constructively.
• Confidence in recommending menu items and supporting sales through appropriate upselling.
• Good planning and decision-making skills, including the ability to stay composed under pressure and work long hours when required.
• Reliable, responsible, flexible and proactive, with a collaborative approach to team duties.
• Genuine interest in hospitality.
