Role Overview
The Network Designer develops the physical infrastructure and logical architecture needed to deliver telecommunications and ICT networks that meet project requirements and applicable standards. From mapping routes in GIS software to preparing build-ready documentation, this role helps engineering and deployment teams move from a sound design to effective implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop passive and logical network designs that reflect project scope, technical constraints, and industry standards.
- Use GIS planning tools to map network routes, assess site layouts, and identify opportunities to improve proposed designs.
- Produce design drawings, schematics, diagrams, and other technical records needed to guide network deployment.
- Compile Bills of Materials and technical specifications to support planning and implementation.
- Coordinate design reviews and resolve technical questions with project managers, field engineers, and deployment teams.
- Support the handover of approved designs to implementation teams, helping ensure the planned network can be built as intended.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, ICT, or a related technical discipline from a recognized university.
- At least seven years of overall experience in the telecommunications or ICT sector.
- At least five years of hands-on experience designing networks.
- Relevant professional certifications in GIS planning and passive and logical network design.
- Practical ability to create network designs, route plans, technical documentation, and Bills of Materials.
