Mould Technician

Role Overview

In this position, you will be the hands-on technical owner of the moulding equipment used to produce PVC pipes and fittings. Your daily work centres on keeping those machines running at peak output — setting them up correctly, watching for the first sign of trouble, and stepping in quickly when mechanical or mould-related problems arise. Because every pipe and fitting must meet exact dimensional and quality standards, your attention directly determines whether the production line delivers sellable product on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare moulding machines for production runs, including installing and aligning moulds, setting process parameters, and performing trial runs before full output begins.
• Operate and continuously monitor moulding equipment throughout shifts, tracking temperature, pressure, cycle times, and other variables that affect PVC pipe and fitting quality.
• Carry out scheduled inspection rounds to spot wear, leaks, misalignment, or unusual noise and vibration before they escalate into breakdowns.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and mould issues, then perform minor repairs, adjustments, and component replacements to restore production quickly.
• Use hand tools, lathes, milling machines, grinders, and welding equipment to fabricate or recondition parts and mould components as needed.
• Record production data, machine settings, maintenance actions, and quality checks accurately so that shift handovers and audits are reliable.
• Work with production, quality, and maintenance colleagues to hit daily output targets and resolve bottlenecks.
• Follow factory safety rules and quality procedures rigorously, contribute ideas for continuous improvement, and support preventive maintenance planning.
• Verify that finished pipes and fittings match required specifications before they move to the next stage.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Practical skill with CNC machining, including setup and operation.
• Competence in welding for repair and fabrication tasks.
• Ability to read and work from CAD/CAM files and software.
• Hands-on experience with lathe, milling machines, and grinders.
• Solid understanding of factory safety regulations and safe equipment operation practices.
• Mechanical troubleshooting ability, especially with moulding machinery and moulds.
• Attention to detail for maintaining records and meeting product specifications.
