Our Mandate The Judicial Service Commission is an independent Commission established under Article 171 of the Constitution. Its mandate as stipulated in Article 172 of the Constitution is to promote and facilitate the independence and accountability of the Judiciary and the efficient, effective and transparent administration of justice. Our Functions Recommend to the President persons for appointment as judges. Review and make recommends on condition of service for judges (other than their remuneration), judicial officers and staff of the Judiciary. Receive complaints against, investigate and remove from office or otherwise disciplining registrars, magistrates, other judicial officers and other staff of the Judiciary. Remuneration: Gross Salary Scale: Min. Kshs 189,534 - Max Kshs 232,164 p.m.

Job Requirements: Academic and Professional Qualifications:

  • For appointment to the position of Legal Researcher, an applicant must have the following qualifications.
  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized University.
  • Be an Advocate of the High Court with a current practicing certificate.
  • Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
  • Membership to Law Society of Kenya.
  • Proficiency in Computer applications.
  • A Post Graduate Diploma in Law.
  • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.
  • A Senior Management Course or its equivalent will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • Be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya with at least one (1) year post – admission qualification.
