Laundry Supervisor

Role Overview

Lead the day-to-day operation of the laundry department, coordinating staff and ensuring linen, uniforms and guest laundry are processed, inspected and delivered reliably. This role supports smooth service across the organisation by maintaining quality standards, managing supplies and ensuring equipment and chemical products are used safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise laundry staff to keep departmental services running efficiently.
• Operate and maintain working knowledge of washing, dry-cleaning and pressing equipment, including routine care and maintenance procedures.
• Apply laundry chemicals correctly and economically, ensuring safe storage and appropriate disposal of hazardous products.
• Monitor chemical use and advise the manager when stock levels indicate that a requisition may be needed.
• Assess textiles and select suitable care and processing methods for different fabrics and items.
• Inspect linen, uniforms and guest laundry for cleanliness, pressing quality, folding and packaging standards.
• Identify damage or defects in guest laundry and staff uniforms, and recommend appropriate action.
• Control the distribution of linen and uniforms, maintaining adequate supplies and careful handling of items for guests, managers and employees.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Diploma in Housekeeping and Laundry Operations or a related field.
• Previous experience in a similar laundry supervisory role.
• Strong spoken, written and reading proficiency in English.
• Practical knowledge of laundry machinery, textile care, chemical handling and departmental procedures.
