Role Overview
The laboratory professional will oversee day-to-day laboratory operations, ensuring that diagnostic work is performed reliably and in line with applicable professional and quality standards. The role includes supporting laboratory quality management and using health information systems to maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Superintend laboratory operations within the scope of professional qualifications.
- Support the implementation and ongoing use of laboratory quality management systems.
- Help ensure laboratory procedures and diagnostic work meet relevant quality requirements.
- Use computer systems, including Health Management Information Systems, to manage laboratory information.
- Maintain clear and accurate laboratory records.
- Communicate laboratory information effectively and work constructively with colleagues.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A degree in Laboratory Sciences or a diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology.
- At least five years of experience after registration with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB), and eligibility to superintend.
- At least three years of relevant work experience.
- Current registration and a valid KMLTTB practising licence.
- Training in, and a demonstrated understanding of, laboratory quality management systems.
- Proficiency with computers, particularly Health Management Information Systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
