Medical Laboratory Sales Representative — Laboratory Diagnostics & Equipment
Role Overview
This is a field-based commercial role focused on growing revenue for a portfolio of laboratory equipment, reagents, and diagnostic consumables across hospitals, private clinics, standalone laboratories, and other healthcare facilities. Day to day, you will be on the road meeting laboratory technologists, pathologists, procurement officers, and hospital administrators — demonstrating instruments, preparing quotations and tender documents, and converting leads into repeat customers. The position matters because diagnostic supply decisions are relationship-led and technically scrutinised: whoever can speak credibly about analysers and test kits while managing the full sales cycle from prospecting to after-sales support is the person who wins and holds the territory.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive sales of laboratory equipment, reagents, and diagnostic consumables across an assigned territory, working to agreed revenue and volume targets.
- Build and sustain long-term relationships with laboratory technologists, pathologists, procurement officers, and hospital administrators, becoming the trusted point of contact for their diagnostic supply needs.
- Deliver product demonstrations, sales presentations, and hands-on customer training sessions that show clear clinical and operational value.
- Prepare accurate quotations, commercial proposals, and tender submission documents in line with customer specifications and internal pricing guidelines.
- Develop and execute a territory sales plan, identifying new business opportunities through field visits, referrals, and market research, and converting them into active accounts.
- Maintain customer records and manage the sales pipeline within the company's CRM system, keeping activity and opportunity data current.
- Coordinate instrument installation, calibration, and user training by liaising with technical and service teams to ensure a smooth handover after the sale.
- Track market trends and competitor activity, and submit regular sales, activity, and forecast reports to management.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacy, Sales/Marketing, or a closely related discipline. A relevant diploma combined with sufficient practical experience may be considered.
- 1–3 years of sales experience, ideally within laboratory equipment, medical diagnostics, or healthcare products.
- Demonstrated experience selling rapid diagnostic test kits alongside laboratory analysers such as haematology and urinalysis machines.
- A verifiable track record of consistently meeting or exceeding assigned sales targets.
- Registration with the KMLTTB is an added advantage.
- Confident user of Microsoft Office applications and CRM software.
- A valid driving licence is required for this field-based role.
