Role Overview
Protect the organisation’s telecommunications and ICT environments by designing and operating security controls for network access, identities, wireless connections, roaming, and sessions. The role also helps limit exposure to cyber threats through ongoing network monitoring, incident response, risk reviews, and practical security improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain security controls for authentication, authorisation, and accounting (AAA) and identity management.
- Secure wireless networks and access points against unauthorised use and other threats.
- Protect roaming and session environments, identifying weaknesses that could enable unauthorised access or compromise.
- Monitor network activity to detect suspicious behaviour, vulnerabilities, and emerging security risks.
- Investigate and respond to security incidents, taking appropriate steps to contain threats and reduce their impact.
- Conduct risk assessments across telecommunications and ICT infrastructure, documenting exposures and recommending mitigations.
- Apply relevant industry security standards and advise on improvements to security policies, systems, and procedures.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, ICT, or a related technical discipline.
- At least seven years of general professional experience in telecommunications or ICT.
- At least three years of relevant experience implementing a minimum of three projects of comparable complexity.
- Professional training certificates in network security covering AAA, identity management, wireless security, and roaming and session security.
- An industry-recognised network security certification, such as CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, or an equivalent qualification.
