Role Overview
The Human Resources Assistant (HR Specialist II) supports day-to-day personnel administration for the Colorado Department of Revenue, helping keep employee information, HR processes, and team coordination accurate and organized. The work combines confidential records management, HR systems support, reporting, and service to employees and managers, contributing to dependable public-sector operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process personnel actions and related documentation, and update employee records in HR information systems.
- Record changes such as new hires, compensation updates, and other employment information while safeguarding sensitive data.
- Review HR records for accuracy, consistency, and appropriate handling of confidential information.
- Prepare HR reports, spreadsheets, charts, presentations, and dashboards for leadership and operational use.
- Arrange calendars, meetings, travel details, and team events for HR leaders.
- Support HR system administration, maintain forms and documentation, and help improve or automate administrative workflows.
- Coordinate logistics for training, orientations, and other HR activities.
- Respond to administrative requests from HR colleagues, employees, managers, and internal partners.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least five years of experience in human resources, administration, operations, or a related support function.
- High school diploma required; a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Experience maintaining employee records and using HRIS platforms, databases, or comparable business systems.
- Working knowledge of HR administration, personnel documentation, data entry, reporting, and workflow processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, including spreadsheets and reporting tools.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate processes.
- Sound judgment when handling confidential employee and personnel information, along with clear communication skills.
- Must reside in Colorado when applying.
