Job Description

Role Overview

This position operates at the intersection of hospital operations and people strategy, taking charge of day-to-day human resource execution while supporting long-term workforce goals. You will handle everything from hiring and onboarding to disciplinary guidance and compliance tracking, often coordinating with department heads to keep staffing stable and productive. Your work directly influences staff morale, regulatory adherence, and the hospital’s ability to deliver consistent patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive recruitment end-to-end, including drafting vacancy notices, screening applicants, coordinating interview panels, completing reference checks, and structuring a smooth onboarding experience.
  • Act as a neutral point of contact for employee concerns, mediating conflicts, investigating grievances, and documenting disciplinary actions in line with hospital policy.
  • Partner with department managers to forecast staffing needs, identify retention risks, and develop practical talent-retention initiatives that reduce turnover.
  • Administer the performance management cycle by equipping supervisors with target-setting tools, monitoring review timelines, and consolidating appraisal outcomes.
  • Identify skill gaps through structured training needs assessments, then coordinate internal sessions, external courses, and continuing medical education (CME) activities while tracking attendance and impact.
  • Prepare accurate monthly payroll inputs by collecting overtime records, allowance claims, and deduction adjustments from various departments.
  • Maintain reliable HR data on leave balances, absenteeism, contract renewals, and probation reviews, producing timely reports for leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture by organizing welfare programs, policy sensitization sessions, and engagement activities aligned with staff needs and hospital values.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least three years of hands-on HR experience in a fast-paced environment, ideally within a hospital, clinic, or other healthcare organization.
  • Active membership with the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) and a valid practicing license or certificate.
  • Solid working knowledge of labor legislation, employment standards, and typical HR challenges found in medical settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive employee information with confidentiality, discretion, and sound judgment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proven capability to resolve conflicts and facilitate difficult conversations.
  • A strategic outlook that balances institutional objectives with genuine concern for employee well-being.
