Role Overview
This internship places you inside the Talent & Culture team in Nairobi, where you will handle the practical, people-facing work that keeps HR running smoothly — from moving candidates through the hiring pipeline to answering everyday questions from employees. You will be the connective tissue between applicants, hiring managers, and the wider HR function, making sure information flows on time and nothing slips through the cracks. For someone building a career in human resources, it is a chance to learn the craft by doing it, with experienced colleagues close enough to guide you.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine HR administrative tasks and keep personnel documentation accurate, current, and easy to retrieve.
- Support the recruitment cycle end to end: searching for suitable candidates, carrying out first-round screening, and maintaining up-to-date application records for every applicant.
- Coordinate interview logistics, including scheduling sessions, confirming attendance, and keeping candidates and interviewers informed of any changes.
- Act as a day-to-day contact for candidate communication, responding promptly and professionally to questions about the process.
- Provide administrative backup to the Talent & Culture team, preparing documents, supporting meetings, and following up on outstanding actions.
- Respond to employee questions about policies, rules, and regulations, and route more complex matters to the appropriate team member.
- Contribute to wider HR initiatives such as training sessions, internal audits, and project meetings as they arise.
- Take on general office support duties and other reasonable tasks assigned by the team as needs evolve.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in Human Resource Management, and a genuine intention to build a career in the HR field.
- Active interest in gaining hands-on professional experience rather than a purely academic understanding of HR.
- Working competence in Microsoft Office applications for documentation, spreadsheets, and correspondence.
- Strong written and verbal communication, with the confidence to engage candidates, employees, and colleagues at different levels.
- Ability to juggle several tasks at once without losing accuracy or attention to detail.
- A real enthusiasm for talent management and people-focused work.
- Comfort operating on-site as part of the Nairobi-based team.
What We Offer / Why Join
- Hands-on exposure to the everyday realities of HR operations, not just theory.
- Direct mentorship and guidance from experienced HR professionals who will help you sharpen your skill set.
- Involvement in real recruitment activity and HR projects, giving you concrete experience to carry into your career.
- The chance to contribute meaningfully to people-focused initiatives that support the organisation's success.
