Job Description
Role Overview
This role leads the academic and administrative work of a university department, guiding students from admission and orientation through academic progression and graduation. It also safeguards the quality of teaching and examinations while coordinating staff performance and addressing concerns raised by students and employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the development and periodic review of departmental academic programs.
- Contribute to decisions on student admission across the department’s programs.
- Welcome new students and provide orientation on departmental programs and processes.
- Oversee teaching and examination activities, ensuring academic quality standards are upheld.
- Track student progress and coordinate the steps required for successful completion and graduation.
- Monitor class attendance for both students and staff.
- Respond to student and staff concerns and work toward timely resolution.
- Manage staff performance, attendance, leave, and conduct, and undertake other duties assigned to the role.
Requirements & Qualifications
- PhD in Information Technology, Computer Science, Educational Technology, or a related field from an accredited university.
- Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited university.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited university.
- At least three years of university-level teaching experience.
- At least one year of management experience.
- Evidence of academic publishing and participation in, or contributions to, conferences, seminars, and workshops.
