Role Overview
As a Plumber and Water Services Technician, you will be the person who keeps clean water flowing and waste moving where it needs to go — installing new pipework and sanitary fixtures, tracking down leaks, clearing blockages, and keeping existing systems in reliable working order. You will work from drawings and specifications, select and fit the right materials for each job, and pressure-test your work so problems are caught before they reach the customer. The quality of your work directly protects buildings from water damage, safeguards public health, and keeps households and facilities running without disruption.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, assemble, and connect water supply, drainage, and sanitation pipework in line with approved drawings, specifications, and plumbing regulations.
- Cut, bend, thread, joint, solder, and solvent-weld pipes and fittings across common materials used in water services.
- Fit and commission fixtures and appliances such as taps, valves, cisterns, toilets, sinks, showers, and water heating units.
- Diagnose faults in plumbing and water systems, trace leaks and blockages, and carry out repairs or replacements with minimal disruption to occupants.
- Carry out pressure and leak testing, then inspect completed installations to confirm they meet performance and safety standards.
- Maintain and service existing systems through scheduled inspections, descaling, and replacement of worn components.
- Read and interpret layout drawings, schematics, and material lists, and record work completed, materials used, and time spent.
- Follow site safety procedures, keep tools and equipment in good condition, and coordinate with other trades so work progresses without clashes.
- Respond promptly to emergency call-outs such as burst pipes and overflowing systems, and apply temporary containment before permanent repairs.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Craft Certificate in Plumbing & Water Services, or Certification in Plumbing at Level Five (5) stage.

- Good physical stamina and comfort working in confined spaces, at height, and in outdoor conditions.
- Sound numeracy for measuring, calculating pipe runs, and estimating material quantities.
- Clear communication and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-trade team.
- Dependable, detail-focused approach with a strong commitment to doing the job right the first time.
