Job Description

Role Overview

As a Floor Attendant, you will be the first point of contact for shoppers, guiding them through the store and helping them find what they need with confidence. Your day-to-day work involves keeping the sales floor inviting, supporting the sales team by actively engaging customers, and ensuring that merchandise is always displayed and stocked to drive sales. You play a direct role in shaping the customer experience and supporting the store's overall performance through attentive service and smooth daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and engage shoppers as they enter the sales floor, proactively offering assistance and identifying what they are looking for.
  • Recommend products based on customer needs, explaining features, benefits, and usage to help them make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Maintain an organized and visually appealing sales floor, including tidying shelves, arranging displays, and ensuring promotional areas are correctly set up.
  • Operate the point-of-sale system to process purchases, handle returns, and manage cash or card transactions accurately.
  • Monitor stock levels on the floor, replenishing items as needed and flagging low inventory to the management team.
  • Use upselling and cross-selling techniques to increase average transaction value while keeping the customer's needs front and center.
  • Respond to customer questions about store policies, product availability, and pricing, resolving concerns quickly and courteously.
  • Support visual merchandising efforts by adjusting displays, checking shelf labels, and keeping high-traffic areas neat throughout the day.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • At least 2–3 years of hands-on experience in retail sales, customer service, or a similar floor-based role.
  • A certificate, diploma, or degree in business, sales, marketing, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to build rapport with a diverse range of customers.
  • A customer-first approach, demonstrated through active listening, patience, and a consistently positive attitude.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks at once without losing attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as needed to cover peak business hours.
  • Basic familiarity with POS systems is an advantage, though training may be provided for the right candidate.
  • Proven ability to apply sales techniques such as upselling and cross-selling in a real retail setting.
  • Experience with merchandising and display management, including restocking shelves and maintaining visual standards.
  • Professional proficiency in English, along with solid administrative skills for managing simple paperwork, receipts, and inventory records.
