Fleet New Technology Adviser

Role Overview

As the Fleet New Technology Adviser, you will act as the go-to expert on advanced vehicle systems and emerging transportation solutions for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Your daily work involves diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical issues, coordinating with manufacturers, and equipping field technicians with the tools, training, and documentation they need to keep fleets operational. This role is critical to ensuring that humanitarian missions can rely on safe, well-maintained vehicles in some of the world's most demanding environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the central point of contact for technical assistance requests from delegations, analyzing issues and delivering timely solutions or escalating to manufacturer support hubs when necessary.
• Develop and distribute technical bulletins, repair guides, and best-practice notes that address recurring or complex vehicle faults, ensuring field staff have up-to-date reference materials.
• Conduct training sessions—either directly or through external providers—on Renault diagnostic tools, specialized equipment, and new vehicle technologies, and oversee mechanics' use of these systems.
• Maintain a comprehensive inventory of diagnostic tools, ensuring each device is registered, functional, and running the latest software, and guide delegations on purchasing additional diagnostic or specialized equipment.
• Collaborate with delegations operating Renault trucks to schedule preventive and curative maintenance visits using the Renault Diagnostic Tool, and provide hands-on troubleshooting for intricate electrical and mechanical problems.
• Monitor global advancements in fleet technology and propose process improvements or structural changes to vehicle servicing, including the integration of hybrid, electric, and solar-powered solutions.
• Liaise with headquarters' Fleet Management Unit to supply the latest technical manuals and ensure that all technicians can access manufacturer technical portals and specialized tools.

Requirements & Qualifications

• University degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering from a recognized institution.
• At least five years of professional experience as an industrial vehicle mechatronic technician or in a comparable role; experience with lifting equipment or boats is a plus.
• Prior work with international organizations is advantageous.
• Fluent written and spoken English; knowledge of French is an asset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience using asset management ERP systems.
• Valid truck driving license with articulated vehicle endorsement is mandatory; forklift and/or boat certifications are desirable.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain a network of key contacts.
• Excellent organizational and analytical abilities, plus team leadership and supervision experience is a plus.
• Willingness and ability to travel regularly to various countries.
