Role Overview
We are seeking a highly strategic, commercially astute Finance & Accounts Manager to direct the institutional financial architecture and fiscal governance of our fast-moving consumer goods operation in Nairobi. Your primary mandate will be to engineer robust corporate budgeting frameworks, insulate working capital cycles, and drive lean cost-control measures across our high-volume distribution networks. This position bridges high-level financial planning and analysis (FP&A) with rigorous statutory accounting; you will supervise everything from daily cash liquidity optimization and multi-currency ledger management to enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems automation and complex tax health audits. The role requires an analytical, ICPAK-aligned leader who can comfortably convert complex financial data into predictive market strategies that safeguard profitability.
Areas of Accountability
Corporate Strategy, Forecasting & Reporting
- Formulate and present comprehensive monthly management accounts, annual budgets, rolling cash forecasts, and detailed margin variance models.
- Deliver high-level financial intelligence and predictive modeling to executive leadership to guide long-term commercial investment decisions.
- Track operational capital metrics continuously, establishing fast remediation plans when business channels deviate from approved spending caps.
- Evaluate unit product costing structures, pricing sensitivities, and supply chain logistics to maximize net profit yields.
Financial Controls & Statutory Auditing
- Build, deploy, and refine rigorous internal control frameworks and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to protect corporate assets.
- Drive complete alignment with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), local corporate laws, and emerging commercial statutes.
- Manage the successful execution of all internal and external institutional financial audits, resolving technical inquiries swiftly.
- Anchor risk management protocols, identifying and dampening structural operational, currency exposure, or credit vulnerabilities.
Accounting Operations & Cash Liquidity Oversight
- Supervise the complete integrity of the general ledger, accounts payable aging, accounts receivable collections, and fixed asset registries.
- Coordinate month-end and year-end closing processes across all accounting sub-ledgers with absolute technical precision.
- Command daily working capital parameters, optimizing bank reconciliations, corporate lines of credit, and treasury cash liquidity.
- Steer continuous system upgrades and automation runs within the enterprise resource planning (ERP) network to boost processing efficiency.
Fiscal Compliance & Team Mentorship
- Oversee absolute compliance across all statutory obligations, verifying the pinpoint accuracy of Corporate Income Tax, VAT, PAYE, and specialized levies via iTax.
- Coach, mentor, and upskill the corporate finance department, instilling a highly accountable culture focused on professional progression.
- Cultivate clear, productive strategic partnerships with commercial banks, regulatory bodies, external auditors, and key institutional vendors.
Skills & Experience Required
Minimum Entry Criteria
- Academic Foundation: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, or a closely matching financial discipline from an accredited university.
- Professional Qualifications: Fully qualified CPA(K), ACCA, or a globally recognized chartered accounting credential with active professional standing.
- Industry Longevity: Minimum of 5 to 8 years of progressive, verified performance leading financial operations, with strong preference for tenure within the FMCG, industrial manufacturing, or wholesale distribution sectors.
- Systems Fluency: Deep, hands-on experience navigating and optimizing complex ERP platforms (such as SAP, Oracle, Sage, or Microsoft Dynamics) and deploying advanced data analytics frameworks.
