Role Overview
As a Field Sales Manager, you will own the sales performance of a dedicated shop, directing a team of commission-driven agents who operate in rural and community settings. Your daily focus is on building that team's capacity—recruiting, coaching, and tracking their activity—so that shop targets are met through consistent, high-quality customer engagement. This role is critical because it connects frontline sales energy with the company's growth goals, and it reports directly to the Area Sales Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit, onboard, train, motivate, and mentor a team of commission-based sales agents, building a pipeline of talent that can sustain sales performance.
- Design and communicate clear sales strategies for the team, including initiatives that generate new leads and expand the customer base.
- Coach agents on how to pitch effectively to groups such as chamas, helping them refine their presentation and objection-handling skills.
- Monitor each agent's daily activity to confirm they are actively selling, and step in with hands-on support or corrective guidance when performance dips.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on sales initiatives, team results, and field challenges to the Area Sales Manager.
- Assess training gaps within the sales team and collaborate with the HR team to schedule relevant development programs.
- Coordinate with the local shop Administrator to ensure field agents have adequate stock available when they need it.
- Track market trends, customer behavior, and competitor moves, then share actionable insights with management on a frequent basis.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least five years of experience in sales or micro-finance, with a demonstrated history of hitting or exceeding targets.
- Hands-on experience working in rural areas is mandatory.
- Proven track record of recruiting, managing, and retaining commission-based sales agents.
- Strong leadership instincts paired with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to think strategically, plan effectively, and translate plans into measurable outcomes.
- Resilience and composure when working under pressure to meet deadlines and sales goals.
- A diploma or degree in a relevant field is considered an added advantage.
