Role Overview
The Field Sales Manager owns field sales execution for an assigned shop, leading a commission-based sales team that reaches customer groups and rural markets. Day to day, this person builds and coaches the agent team, keeps daily selling activity on track, and works with shop operations so agents have the stock and support needed to meet shop targets. The role matters because it turns individual agent effort into consistent revenue and gives the Area Sales Manager reliable insight into what is happening in the market.
Key Responsibilities
- Bring commission-based sales agents into the team, then develop their skills, keep them engaged, and guide their growth.
- Create practical sales plans for the shop and develop lead-generation activities that connect agents with qualified prospects.
- Help agents sharpen group presentations, including pitches delivered to chamas, through side-by-side coaching and feedback.
- Track daily agent activity and sales results, stepping in with support, corrective guidance, or extra coaching when performance lags.
- Prepare and share regular sales reports with the Area Sales Manager, covering progress, challenges, and market observations.
- Assess team skill gaps and coordinate with HR to arrange relevant training programs.
- Work closely with the local shop Administrator to ensure field agents receive adequate stock at the right time.
- Monitor customer behavior, competitor moves, and market trends, then pass useful insights to management.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least five years of sales or micro-finance experience, with a demonstrated history of meeting or exceeding targets.
- Hands-on experience working in rural areas is required.
- A track record of building and overseeing a commission-paid sales team.
- Clear leadership presence and polished interpersonal abilities.
- Strategic planning capability and the ability to translate plans into measurable sales outcomes.
- Comfort working under pressure and maintaining target focus.
- Formal education in a related discipline, such as a diploma or degree, would strengthen an application.
