Role Overview
This leadership position puts you in charge of the entire housekeeping operation at a hotel, from guest rooms and public areas to laundry and linen services. You will coordinate daily workflows, set cleanliness benchmarks, and lead a team of supervisors and attendants to ensure every space meets the property’s standards. Your focus is on operational efficiency, staff performance, and supporting a seamless guest experience through meticulous attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and manage housekeeping staff schedules, shift rotations, and daily room assignments based on occupancy and event needs.
- Set and enforce cleaning standards across guest rooms, corridors, public areas, and back-of-house spaces through regular inspections and audits.
- Direct and support Floor Supervisors, Room Attendants, Public Area staff, and Laundry teams in their day-to-day duties and performance expectations.
- Coordinate closely with the Front Office to track room status, VIP arrivals, departures, and turnaround times to keep operations running smoothly.
- Oversee laundry production, linen stock levels, replacement cycles, and inventory records to maintain availability and control costs.
- Manage the departmental budget, including supply purchasing, equipment needs, and operational expenses while identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Enforce safety protocols, proper chemical handling procedures, and hygiene standards throughout the property.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance teams to identify room defects and ensure repairs are completed quickly and efficiently.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Hospitality, Housekeeping Management, or a related field.
- At least five years of experience in housekeeping operations, with a minimum of two years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Proven ability to manage staff scheduling, room assignments, and quality inspection processes.
- Strong expertise in laundry control, chemical safety, and inventory management within a hotel setting.
- Solid background in budgeting, cost control, and purchasing housekeeping supplies.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills for working with Front Office, Engineering, and other departments.
- Experience recruiting, training, coaching, and evaluating housekeeping staff to maintain high performance standards.
- Attention to detail and a strong commitment to cleanliness, hygiene, and guest satisfaction.
