Role Overview
The Dry Material Stores Manager is accountable for everything that happens to raw materials before they reach the production line at a food processing plant. On a typical day that means receiving deliveries, arranging and protecting dry stock, issuing materials to production, keeping counts honest, and holding the warehouse to food safety and workplace safety rules. The job matters because a single miscount, delayed delivery or missed reorder point can halt a production run, spoil perishable inputs or quietly inflate the cost of carrying stock.
Key Responsibilities
- Run the daily cycle of receiving, stacking, handling and issuing dry raw materials so factory production never runs short.
- Keep warehouse layouts, material zones and storage systems organised, clean and secure enough to support fast picking and efficient loading.
- Watch stock balances, consumption ratios and reorder triggers closely to prevent both stock-outs on the factory floor and unnecessary excess holding.
- Lead routine cycle counts, month-end stock audits and physical inventory reconciliations, then investigate and close out any variances.
- Manage stock rotation so raw materials do not become obsolete, spoil in storage or disappear through operational leakage.
- Line up inbound material arrivals with production schedules and procurement purchase orders, and inspect incoming goods for correct documentation, intact packaging and acceptable quality.
- Supervise, train and appraise warehouse supervisors, storekeepers and material handlers, setting daily work schedules, material handling guidelines and sanitation routines.
- Enforce OSHA workplace health and safety rules alongside HACCP and GMP food manufacturing standards across all dry storage areas.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Management or a closely related field.
- CPA qualification is an added advantage.
- At least 5 years of hands-on stores and warehouse management experience, preferably gained in an FMCG or food processing setting.
- Solid working knowledge of FIFO/LIFO issuance, stock reconciliation, variance analysis and material tracking.
- Proficiency with the MS Office Suite and with ERP or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Demonstrated ability to supervise a team, coordinate shifts and manage performance.
- Comfort operating at speed in a target-driven manufacturing environment without letting safety standards slip.
