Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital (KUTRRH) is a leading national referral hospital with a 650-bed capacity and state-of-the-art medical amenities, offering specialized services in Oncology, Trauma & Orthopedics, and Renal care. We are seeking an exceptional and strategic leader to join our executive team as Director, Human Resource and Administration.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director will provide strategic leadership, policy direction and oversight for the Hospital's Human Resource, Administration and Hospitality functions. This role is pivotal in developing and implementing integrated people management, administration and hospitality strategies that drive organizational effectiveness, good governance, operational excellence and the achievement of KUTRRH's strategic objectives.
This is a full-time executive position based in Nairobi, Kenya, offered on a five (5) year renewable contract, subject to satisfactory performance.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; OR a Bachelor's degree in Economics, Sociology, Business Administration, Public Administration, Commerce or equivalent, plus a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management/Development.
- Master's degree in Human Resource Management or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP-K) or an equivalent professional qualification recognized by the Institute of Human Resource Management.
- Registered by the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) with a valid practicing license.
- A minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant work experience, with at least three (3) years in a senior management position.
- Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
- Strong strategic leadership, organizational transformation, and decision-making capabilities.
- Expertise in labour laws, policy interpretation, stakeholder engagement, and high ethical standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership, policy direction and oversight for the Human Resource, Administration and Hospitality functions of the Hospital.
- Develop, implement, review and monitor HR policies, strategies, regulations and procedures.
- Lead workforce planning, organizational design, job evaluation, succession planning and institutional transformation initiatives.
- Oversee recruitment, selection, appointment, deployment, promotion, career progression, retention and staff remuneration.
- Direct performance management, productivity improvement, reward management, learning and leadership development programmes.
- Manage employee relations, labour relations, disciplinary processes, grievance handling and dispute resolution.
- Oversee employee engagement, wellness, welfare, occupational health and employee assistance programmes.
- Champion HRIS implementation, people analytics, culture transformation and change management.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, public service policies, professional HR standards and statutory requirements.
- Provide oversight of administration services including office administration, transport and fleet management, records and archives, chaplaincy, construction and estate management.
- Drive digital transformation, automation, risk management, business continuity and customer service excellence in administrative processes.
- Provide strategic oversight of hospitality services including catering, housekeeping, laundry and tailoring, engineering and security services.
- Ensure compliance with occupational safety and health, infection prevention and control, environmental regulations and sustainability standards.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with government agencies, regulators, development partners and stakeholders.
- Monitor Directorate performance and ensure achievement of strategic and operational targets.
